Savouring sake together becomes a moment to remember
— gently touched by 300 years of tradition.

These sake cups are carefully handmade by skilled artisans at a traditional Aizu lacquerware workshop, founded over 300 years ago during the Keian (慶安) era.

Each step—base coating, painting, and finishing—is done by hand with great care.

The design shows two spring scenes:
– Mountain cherry blossoms bloom with fresh green leaves
– Petals falling gently into a stream

These beautiful moments are painted using the maki-e (蒔絵) technique.

The surface uses a special Aizu style called kindei (消金地), where excellent gold powder (消紛) is sprinkled on the lacquer.

This gives the cup a soft, elegant shine, different from gold leaf.

Only natural lacquer (-urushi) is used. No plastic or artificial materials.
Although small, the cup feels solid in the hand, and its smooth surface shows the true beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.
